The VPC Cadet Youth Forum,  would like to invite Cadets and Leaders, aged 16 to 25 with cadet experience, to join them at Microsofts HQ in Reading, Thames Valley, on Saturday 29 June from 10.00 to 16.00 where they will receive input from Microsoft staff and apprentices on the latest hi-tech innovations and challenged to explore proposals for the future of VPC and Policing. This event is the next step in our strategy of empowering our network of cadets to inform and influence future developments in VPC and Policing, whilst having fun and meeting representatives from across the country (England and Wales).

Delegates will be put into mixed teams Alpha, Bravo, Charlie and Delta, and challenged to come up with four new ideas and proposals, based on their collective experience, on the topics of: Youth Crime; Youth Social Action, Policing Priorities, and the future of VPC. They will also be asked for their views on a Code of Conduct and how they would like to see VPC training accredited. Finally they will be invited to present their new ideas and proposals to a high-ranking panel, including NPCC VPC Lead CC Shaun Sawyer and other senior representatives.

This youth-led event is something of a cross between a ‘hackathon’ and a ‘dragons den’ based oin feedback from young leaders and follows a six-month project listening to cadets voices through our first national survey to a number of local workshops and the first national Youth Forum meeting in March. Its members will be co-leading the workshops alongside apprentices working at Microsoft.

“We are the voice for change – we want to give voice to your ideas, the VPC Youth Forum is the Voice of the VPC, giving yp across the UK, who are part of the VPC a chance to learn and to be heard” (March 2019).
