Cadets have met senior industry leaders and specialists, senior leaders from military & policing, corporate teams & other guests, learning about latest technologies and challenges faced, partnership working, future career aspirations, networking, work experience ideas and much more.
Cadets from five police force areas (City of London, Hertfordshire, Surrey, West Midlands, Essex) were nominated by their Leaders for a brand-new Security Institute NextGen Award, recognising cadets who had showed great enthusiasm, participation and commitment to the Next Gen programme and opportunities. It was a tough decision - the Security Institute judging panel chose Surrey VPC Polin aged 16, as the first NextGen Award winner! Polin and her Surrey unit were invited to The Security Institute’s Gala Awards Dinner in July, held in the grounds of London Zoo where she was presented with her Award by Peter Lavery, Deputy Chairman. She was also presented with an iPad with which Polin will continue her NextGen journey and be part of some exciting opportunities to come!
The VPC was very proud to be jointly nominated with The Security Institute for the prestigious British Security Industry Association’s (BSIA) National Partnership Award and to win!
At a well-attended formal dinner event, Paul Barnard (Associate Director, The Security Institute & NextGen lead) with VPC national hub team’s Tim Mann & Met VPC Leader Nabil Laavid stepped up on stage on behalf of all who have taken part in this innovative and inspirational opportunity.
Big thanks to all those who have made this programme a success. Thanks Cadet Leader Nabil here from Kensington & Chelsea VPC, representing all cadets who have taken part. He will also be chairing the NextGen advisory group! Well done Nabil https://lnkd.in/gqXAHKc
