One of Wandsworth's top Cadets, 16 year old Mosam Patel, won an Award for making a special contribution to community safety as both a Volunteer Police Cadet, Community Volunteer and Wandsworth Youth Council Member.

Mosam was recognised for her outstanding community volunteering and dedication, including:-

  • VPC events and activities locally and across London
  • Member of Wandsworth Youth Council - supporting youth community events
  • Voted by young people to be member of Wandsworth Police Youth Think Tank
  • Volunteering for British Red Cross supporting refugees and families
  • Taking part in youth consultations and other engagememt programmes

Youth Engagement PC Danielle Phillips, who runs the Wandsworth VPC programme, said “We are so proud of all the young people here tonight, especially our own Cadet Mosam. She is one of the most focused and driven young people we have come across, volunteering through the cadets and outside make a difference to the community that accepted her when she moved here from India in 2012.”

“She deservedly won the “Wandsworth Cadet of the Year Award” in January, presented by Commander Mak Chishty in central London. I’d like to thank Mosam, our Cadets and all the young people here tonight for their dedication, commitment and positive energy across our borough, making a real local difference to so many.”
