A team of 12 Cadet from across the Warwickshire and West Mercia Police Alliance travelled to the Isle of Man to take part in a Cadets Challenge Competition organised by The Isle of Man cadets and the Isle of Man Police. The event was very kindly sponsored very by island business Ellan Vannin Fuels and organised by PC Mike Griffiths and team from the Isle of Man Police Youth Scheme This is an annual event and open to all forces Cadet Units. Warwickshire and West Mercia were the reigning champions going into the cup as they we won it the previous time the competition was held.

The cadets travelled to The Ardwhallan Outdoors pursuit centre in the centre of the Island and were joined by cadets from Cambridgeshire, Northumbria, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, South Wales, Durham, Isle of Man and British Transport Police.
The competition took place all day Saturday, all the activities required the Cadets to work together in teams of 6, the games were interesting and varied, some were physical and some mental with others that required both.
The activities took place on the side of the a hill, deep in a forest, along a gorge and even out in the middle of a reservoir. The cadets persevered though torrential rain which came in side ways in the morning and bright humid sunshine in the afternoon, which unfortunately brought out a few billion midges which were a major challenge in themselves.
Following a final challenge where Cadets made rockets put of old plastic drinks bottle one of our teams were crowned champions. The trophy was presented by the Chief Constable of the Isle of Man Police, following this the cadets feasted on a BBQ in the evening sunshine.
A great weekend was had by all with new friends made bringing the Volunteer Police Cadets family closer together!!
