Helen Nellany : National VPC Safeguarding & Standards Manager

Helen is a serving Police Inspector with Lancashire Constabulary. Helen joined the National VPC Team on secondment in January 2019 and is our National Safeguarding Manager and Youth Mental Health First Aid Trainer. Helen is responsible for ensuring the safeguarding policy is up to date with key legislation and guidance. She provides support and advice to Forces in relation to Safeguarding

Mick Urwin : VPC Standards & Operational Delivery Manager

Mick is responsible for operational delivery, overseeing our training delivery, creation and implementation of the Cadet Journey program & resources and day to day engagement with all police forces in England & Wales. Mick was previously a cadet leader and force VPC coordinator with Durham Constabulary joining the team on secondment in September 2019 and after completing 30 years policing service in August 2020 as a Sgt he re-joined the team.

Racheal Robinson - Cadet Journey lead & Trainer

Racheal is an experienced lecturer and assessor sitting on the Education Panel representing Gateshead College. Racheal is the teams Cadet Journey Lead ensuring that learning topics are relevant for Cadets and supporting leaders in planning and delivery. Racheal works with our own VPC educational programme board in developing the wider Cadet Journey. Racheal is an ex-police officer serving 17 years with Northumbria Police in various roles and specialised in Training and was a Cadet leader.

Tim Mann MBE - Partnership Lead & Trainer

Tim has extensive youth, cadet and training background. Previously a VPC coordinator (& now a Volunteer Leader), he has been actively involved in national cadet programmes, training, major events, camps and more for many years. As our Training, Projects and Partnerships lead, Tim has led adult and youth training programmes, opportunities with community and corporate partners for cadets, promoting dedicated volunteering, commitment and social action of VPCs in Forces across the UK. Tim said “Being part of this journey is a real privilege. In the VPC we say it doesn’t matter where you come from: it’s where you’re going that counts!” Tim is also a retired police officer.
