A Christmas message from the National VPC team.

A Christmas message...
As 2021 draws to a close, it’s a time to reflect, look back but also look forward.
The impact of COVID restrictions remains with us, and with the emergence of the Omicron variant we face an uncertain period, until more is known.
But thanks to the dedication and commitment of our Mini-police, Cadets, Volunteers, Colleagues, Supporters, Partners, and Families, VPC programs in every police force area across England and Wales have once again made a huge difference in their communities and for each other.
We have embraced online activities and events using different platforms and keeping in touch.
During the last year Cadets, Leaders and VPC schemes have won many awards, commendations, and other recognition.
Cadets have been chosen as High Sheriff or Lord Lieutenant Cadets, taking on an additional ceremonial voluntary role, supporting these important civic functions.
Despite the challenges we have faced, new VPC units have opened and welcomed new young people starting out on their Cadet journey. We have said goodbye, sometimes virtually, and good luck to those moving on from their VPC, but also a warm ‘welcome back’ for many of these ex-Cadets who have come back as adult staff leaders or go on to other roles in the policing family.
As ever, youth-led social action has been at the forefront of VPC activity, with cadets supporting food banks local charities, local neighbourhood policing teams, and carrying out heritage crime projects across England & Wales.
As well as (COVID restrictions permitting) taking part in Duke of Edinburgh Awards expeditions and trips, meeting specialist policing teams and units, Armed Forces, and other Blue Light services
There have been some inspiring activities and opportunities with incredible partners and supporters, ranging from Cadets working with The Walt Disney Company, the Security Institute, Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation, White Ribbon UK, Royal British Legion, and many others. Thank you everyone who has participated, joined us, and encouraged their young people to take part.

From all of us at the National VPC Team, we wish you and your families a safe and a very merry Christmas and wish you all the best for 2022.
Stay safe, look after each other and thank you.
